Jordan Leggett saved his best performance of the preseason for last.
After sitting out a weekend game against the New York Giants, the former Navarre standout caught two passes for 16 yards for the New York Jets in their 16-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.
The rookie out of Clemson and the first NFL player from Navarre, ends the preseason with four catches for 36 yards. He played in three games. The Jets went 2-2 in the and are hoping to improve on last season’s 5-11 record.
The talented tight end was a fifth round pick of the Jets in April. He was a two-time Mackey Award finalist in college and helped the Tigers win the national championship in January. He is hoping to make an immediate impact in the league.
Leggett went into camp in line to start at tight end because Austin Seferian-Jenkins is suspended for the first two weeks of the regular season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
Legget and the Jets begin their season Sept. 10 against Buffalo in an AFC East showdown. The Jets finished last in the division.
