Clemson Tigers tight end Jordan Leggett is expected to be named a Mackey Award finalist for the second consecutive year when the list is unveiled Tuesday.
The award is given to the top tight end in the nation and the winner of it will be announced Dec. 7 and presented to the winner Dec. 8 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show. Jake Butt of Michigan and O.J. Howard of Alabama are expected to be the other two finalists for the award.
Leggett, a former standout at Navarre, has caught 31 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns this season. He caught three passes for 50 yards in Clemson’s 35-19 win over Wake Forest this past weekend. The Tigers close out the regular season this week with a game against South Carolina.
A year ago he helped lead Clemson to an appearance in the national championship game and he’s hoping to do the same again this year. He’s become one of the best tight ends in the country over the course of his career and has nearly 100 catches and close to 1,400 receiving yards in his career. He also has 15 career touchdowns.
