Landscape of high school sports on verge of major change

Patrick Keele considered what he would do if he had the freedom to attend one high school while playing a sport for another.

The Navarre swimmer admits the idea is intriguing. The junior also knows there is a negative side.

“It would hurt the core of school spirit,” Keele said. “However, some schools just have much better programs. At Gulf Breeze, they had a girl that made it to the Olympic trials. If I was a female swimmer and had a chance to swim with one of the best, I’d do it. I think it opens up opportunities but definitely has its downfalls because it takes away from your loyalty to your school.”
