Abigail Pantlitz was nervous as she awaited the start of signing day at Navarre Wednesday afternoon.
More nervous, in fact, than standing at the starting line for the 100- or 200-meter dash.
“At the start line, I can just focus on the race,” Pantlitz said. “I can block out everyone. I’m locked in. Up there I was so nervous.”
Pantlitz was referring to sitting at a table on a stage in the cafeteria in front of family, friends and teammates to sign her letter of intent to run track at Liberty.
She was one of four to sign with a school. Football players Klayton Dillard and Quinn Caballero signed with Norwich and Charleston Southern, respectively, while Cameron Terrian is headed to Bishop State to play baseball.
Pantlitz is graduating a year early to pursue her academic and athletic career at the next level. She’s a star sprinter for the Raiders, qualifying for the regional in the 100 and 200 as well as the 4×100 relay. She’s a two-time state qualifier in the 100 and 200. Liberty competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
