Former Navarre football star Jordan Leggett has been named a finalist for the John Mackey Award. The junior tight end for the top-ranked and unbeaten Clemson Tigers is one of three players on the list for the honor of top tight end in the nation. Hunter Henry of Arkansas and Austin Hooper of Stanford are the other two finalists.
The season started with 33 players on the Mackey Award watch list.
Leggett is having the best season of his career for the Tigers, catching 27 passes for 345 yards and six touchdowns. Earlier this season, he caught at least one touchdown pass in five consecutive games. The streak set a school record for a tight end.
Against Georgia Tech, Leggett caught two touchdown passes, which is a school record for a tight end. In the win over Florida State, Leggett made six grabs for 101 yards, becoming only the fourth tight end in program history to have at least 100 receiving yards in a game.
The winner of the award will be announced Dec. 9 and presented live on Dec. 10 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.
