Gatlin Casey is on the field for the first time in his college football career and the former Navarre standout hasn’t let the opportunity to make an impact slip through his fingers.
Instead, he’s making plays, already catching a touchdown pass and rushing for another for Lehigh University. In three games, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver has caught 10 passes for 88 yards, helping the Mountain Hawks fashion a 2-1 record.
“It’s been a great experience so far,” Casey said. “I’m getting a lot of playing time and have had the chance to make plays. The team is having success, too, which makes it even better.”
Casey was a redshirt a year ago after a stellar career with the Raiders in which he earned all-state honors as a senior. He said it gave him a chance to learn about life at the college level.
“I picked up a lot about the offense last year,” Casey said. “Having that redshirt year worked out for me. I feel like I came into this season ready to play.”
