Dwayne Carter has a bag packed by the door and is ready to travel the moment he gets a call from an NFL team that decides to give him a shot at his pro football dream.
For the time being, he’s diligently working to grow the athletic apparel business he started with his two brothers, Michael and Josh, the business he hopes one day will be on the same level as Nike or Adidas.
The name of the business is CART3R LLC, also known as C3 Sports, and it was launched last summer after years of dreaming of getting it off the ground.
The goal is to revolutionize the sports industry and become a brand equal to Nike or Adidas, a goal that fits right in with their slogan of Expecting Greatness.
“We want to be the biggest sports brand the world has ever seen,” Carter said. “We want to get to the point of branching out to have our own charity section. We want to do stuff that changes the world. Realistically, that’s where we see our brand.”
It’s a lofty goal for sure, but Dwayne, Michael and Josh are all athletes who have excelled at a high level. Dwayne is the second-leading rusher in Navarre history and recently graduated from Harding after playing two years of football for the Bison.
Michael graduated from Navarre as the school’s all-time leading rusher and is now playing at North Carolina. Josh is a rising junior who has been one of the top defensive players in the area over the last two seasons.
Their athletic background, including the drive that it takes to be a great athlete, has helped them move their business forward. They have a graphic designer and a manufacturer and put out everything from hoodies and leggings to running pants and shorts.
Every decision that is made is a joint one.
“We’re all equal in the business,” Carter said. “I do more right now because I’m older and have more time, but they are involved in every decision. We don’t make a decision without talking first.”
