Terry Posey has been hired as the new head coach of the Navarre Raiders’ boys basketball team. He retired from Jefferson Davis in Montgomery after 20 years, winning more than 200 games and leading the school to the 2006 state championship.
His resume means the future is bright for the program, a program that, for now, is under the direction of assistant coach Bryant Cobb, who has filled in nicely since Taf Bentley resigned in March.
Cobb talked a couple of weeks ago about how impressed he is with the way his team has handled the transition period.
“The kids have worked really hard,” Cobb said. “They come in four days a week and practice, and they have played games. They’ve responded well. We’ve had a good summer.”
Indeed, the Raiders have enjoyed their fair share of success this summer, completing their season with a 6-2 record, including a 4-0 run through the team camp tournament at Pensacola State. The team will continue through July with workouts in the weight room and pick-up games during the week.
