Navarre rolled over Washington 5-1 Wednesday, punching a ticket to the District 1-4A championship game.
The Raiders face Niceville tonight at 6 p.m. at Washington’s Sherman Robinson Stadium in Pensacola.
In the win over the Wildcats, Jack Patching scored twice. Hayden Richard, Kenny Morillo and Kobe Banks added goals as well as the Raiders earned their second consecutive trip to the title game. Navarre was the runner-up in 2018.
“We knew if we played our game we would come out with the win,” Navarre head coach Abdalla Elbaioumy said.
Navarre once again thrived off a balanced attack and Shaun Hughson made several big saves in goal, particularly in the second half. The goal by Banks was his 20th of the season, the most in the area.
The second-seeded Raiders (16-4-2) and top-seeded Eagles (22-1-2) played twice in the regular season. Niceville won 3-0 and 2-1.
Regardless of tonight’s outcome in the district final, both teams will advance to the regional tournament.
