Rookie Davis is his own biggest critic. When he learned he was being demoted from Cincinnati to Triple-A Louisville in May, he accepted it without complaining, understanding he still has work to do to be an everyday starter in Major League Baseball.
He now finds himself back in Pensacola with the Double-A Blue Wahoos as he begins his road to recovery from a back injury, a road he hopes leads him again to Cincinnati.
Davis was here a year ago, fashioning a 10-3 record, establishing himself as one of the top pitching prospects in the Reds organization.
Earlier this month, the right-hander was throwing in a game against the Chattanooga Lookouts and hoping to take a big step forward.
At times he was brilliant. He didn’t allow a hit or a run in the first three innings of action.
