Navarre’s cross-country teams finished eighth at the EscaRosa Championship Meet Thursday at the Equestrian Center in Pensacola.
The boys saw all seven of their runners finish in under 22 minutes. The girls, meanwhile, continued to make strides as well.
“Everyone was under 22 today, which I was really happy about,” boys head coach Sean Tomey said. “The cooler weather had something to do with that, but they have worked hard and earned the success.”
The course was changed up a bit from its typical setup – the teams ran here for the Gulf Coast Stampede last month – and this meet took place in the afternoon. Most meets are in the morning.
Still, girls head coach Katie Fein liked what she saw from her runners.
“The girls did good,” Fein said. “After being at school all day and coming here and running, they were exhausted, but they did a good job. They’ve improved a lot.”
Matt Horton led the way for the Raiders, clocking in with a time of 19:10.69. He finished 38th overall.
