Editor’s Note: The 2019 Subway All-Star Softball Game is June 6 at the UWF Softball Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida. Game time is 6 p.m. The game features standout seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties. Kallie Anderson, Emily Cannington and Lakin Grindland have been selected to represent Navarre on the East team. All three played a key role in helping the Raiders finish as the district runner-up for the first time since 2014 and advance to the regional tournament. Below is a closer look at the Raiders’ all-star selections.
Inside the numbers: Anderson owned the best batting average on the team (.380). She managed to get on base better than 46 percent of the time and finished her senior year with 30 hits. Anderson crushed a team-high six home runs and drove in 15 runs. She scored 26 runs. Anderson struck out only six times.
Quick Hits: Anderson was the player you could always count on to deliver in a big moment. Teams often opted to walk her rather than let her make them pay by hitting a home run.
She was also a clutch player on the defensive side of things, particularly in the regional tourney when she made catch after catch in the infield to keep the Raiders in the game against Tate.
