Ailsa Clark was on the golf course with her swing coach earlier this month. She told her she felt good about where her game was, believing it was as solid as it’s ever been. The former Navarre Raider also mentioned she wanted to win a college tournament for the first time in her career in the worst way.
“She told me to just be patient with myself and calm enough to push through,” Clark said. “The next week I did it, and I was like, “Wow, I won one. I know if I keep working hard and stay committed to the process, and not focus on what others think or say, it’s going to work out.”
It worked out better than she could have ever imagined. Clark not only won the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, she dominated it, breaking two school records and tying another in helping Florida Gulf Coast University win the team title.
She shot a 67 in the first round March 11, tied for the lowest round in program history, and turned in a record two-round score of 137 after day one. She closed the tourney out with a 69 and finished with a 206, topping the old school record by five strokes.
