But the list of 62 college football stars in contention for best running back in the nation is just that. A list.
“The recognition was cool, but it’s not enough for me,” Carter said. “I need the award. That’s my mindset.”
Carter probably isn’t the player you want to bet against. Not for the award. Not for this season. That’s because he works as hard as anyone, putting in the time and energy to not just be good, but great as he enters his sophomore season at North Carolina.
“I’ve been grinding hard to get ready for the season. I’m excited to get it going. It’s what I’ve been preparing for.”
The all-time leading rusher at Navarre is coming off an impressive freshman campaign with the Tar Heels. One of the most explosive rookies in the ACC in 2017, Carter ranked second on the team in rushing (558), first in yards per carry (5.8) and first in rushing touchdowns (8).
