Josh Carter has his ankle soaking in a bucket of ice. Music is playing on his cell phone as he sits inside the Navarre football fieldhouse and recovers from another tough day of summer practice.
It’s a rare moment of rest for a player who has had little time to slow down this summer. He hit several camps in the South last week, working to not only draw the attention of college scouts but hone his skills on both sides of the ball as well.
Hard work has already paid off for Carter, who, earlier this month, received an offer from the Air Force Academy, his first NCAA Division I offer but certainly not his last.
“We were on our way to Chattanooga when I got the call,” Carter said. “I’m happy about it and hoping for more (offers) to come soon.”
Few athletes in the Panhandle have the talent or potential Carter does.
