Bekka Boyd has made the most of her senior season on the Navarre swim team. The standout diver enjoyed one of her biggest moments of the season Oct. 28 when she won a district championship at Washington High School in Pensacola.
Boyd won with a score of 412, edging runner-up Carla Dias (392.05) of Pensacola by nearly 10 points.
“It was my best performance ever,” Boyd said. “I scored 40 points lower last year at districts. I feel good about the way things went this year.”
Navarre head coach Mary Moorer was thrilled with Boyd’s effort.
“She didn’t just do well, she did really well,” Moorer said. “To get in the 400s is awesome.”
Boyd went into the event not sure if she would come out on top as she and Dias have battled back and forth all season.
But she made strides throughout the season and was ready to give her best effort.
“I feel like I’ve improved all of my dives this year,” Boyd said. “It’s an amazing feeling to win. I’m excited about going to regionals.”
