Caitlin Bethell had already satisfied her appetite for a win late Thursday night, helping the East defeat the West in six games in the Subway All-Star Volleyball Game.
Now it was time to enjoy a postgame sandwich with her teammates after winning a match featuring senior standouts from schools Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.
First, Bethell took a little time to talk about the experience of competing in this game at the University of West Florida Fieldhouse.
“Being selected by not only (Navarre) coach (Michelle Lee), but coaches from all over the district, it’s a really big honor,” Bethell sai
A key player for the Raiders’ varsity team over the last two seasons, Bethell was the lone representative from Navarre on the East squad.
She knew some of her teammates from club volleyball, but many of the faces were new. Two days of practice helped the team mesh together and prepare itself for a battle with the West.
“You don’t know each other’s strengths and weaknesses at first, but it’s a really cool learning experience,” Bethell said. “I had a lot of fun.”
