Navarre and Gulf Breeze typically meet the second to last week of the football season.
This fall, the Santa Rosa County rivals are set to battle in week one for the Beach Bowl Trophy.
The Raiders have been moved up to 7A while the Dolphins are staying in the 6A classification. Both teams are in new districts.
The Raiders are also keeping former district rivals Pace and Milton on their schedule and are set to play Pine Forest in their other non-district game.
District play begins with a road game against Tallahassee Lincoln in early September. It’s the first of two trips to Tallahassee. The Raiders play Leon in October.
It’s possible both of those games in Tallahassee will be played on a Thursday night as schools in the city share a stadium.
The game against Lincoln will either be Sept. 12 or Sept. 13. The game against Leon will be played Oct. 17 or Oct. 18.
One of the more interesting twists to the schedule is Navarre will have an open week Nov. 1, which is a week before the postseason begins.
The Raiders are aiming for their eighth consecutive trip to the playoffs this fall. They went 11-2 last season and reached the regional final.
