Hailey Bastian remembers as a younger girl watching Emily Madril play soccer at Navarre. Madril led the Raiders to the state final four in 2015 and is now at Florida State.
She remembers the way Madril moved with the ball on her way to becoming one of the top players in the state.
Madril inspired her as a soccer player, helping her become the player she is today.
“Watching Emily and playing with the players that I have over the years has made me into the player I am now,” Bastian said.
The kind of player Bastian is now is a pretty good one. She scored 13 goals a year ago. She started off her senior season on the right foot, scoring twice in a preseason game against Gulf Breeze.
Bastian is expected to be one of the key offensive threats for Navarre again this season. But for her, it’s all about the team.
“It’s really a team effort,” Bastian said.
