No girls basketball coach has been hired yet at Navarre, but Michaela Perrone is doing her best to keep the players involved in workouts over the summer.
Perrone has most of her experience coaching junior varsity hoops but moved up to the assistant coach on the varsity squad last November and worked with interim head coach Chris Raggard when Jackie Coyne stepped down.
On this June afternoon, her varsity players are helping to lead a basketball camp in the high school gymnasium. They are teaching aspiring young players the skills that will help them excel in the game.
On most days, the Raiders are in the gym working on their own skills.
“We go Monday through Thursday, three to four hours a day conditioning, lifting and working on the fundamentals,” Perrone said.
