Navarre High School boys basketball coach Taf Bentley is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct.
Santa Rosa County Schools Assistant Superintendent Conni Carnley, who is in charge of human resources, could not provide details on what the investigation involves or how long it will take, but did say Bentley is on paid leave at the moment.
Carnley said that is the protocol in situations of this nature, and the leave will continue until the investigation reaches its conclusion.
During the leave, Bentley will not be coaching or teaching. Rumors have been circulating on social media that he has been fired, but those are untrue.
Bentley is in his seventh season as the head coach of the Raiders, who are scheduled to play at Pensacola High tonight. Assistant coach David Proctor will handle the head coaching responsibilities.
Bentley hasn’t coached Navarre since Dec. 8 when his team took on Fort Walton Beach. He was thrown out of that game for arguing a foul call and had to serve a two-game suspension.
