Navarre’s roller coaster of a baseball season continued last week as they went 2-1 over three games. After getting beaten by Catholic last Tuesday, the Raiders bounced back and demolished Crestview on back to back nights to even their district record.
The Raiders defeated Catholic 7-3 earlier in the year but the result would be much different in the rematch. The game was scoreless after two innings, but the Crusaders exploded for three in the third, four in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to win going away. Navarre managed just two hits in the game and never had a runner get past second base in the 10-0 loss.
Navarre entered Thursday’s game against Crestview having not played a district game in over a month. The Raiders were 0-2 after losing back-to-back games to Milton and needed a sweep of Crestview to avoid finishing last in the four-team District 2-7A standings.
Not only did the Raiders get the sweep, they did so in convincing fashion, beating the Bulldogs 8-4 Thursday and rolling to a 14-2 win Friday night.
In Thursday’s game, Andre Macedo got the Raiders on the board in the second with a monster home run over the left field fence.
