Argos will finally play home opener

The University of West Florida’s football team will play its first home game of the season Saturday night when it takes on Chowan in a 6 p.m. showdown at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

The Argos had their home opener against nationally ranked Midwestern State wiped out last week because of the threat of Hurricane Irma and will be in action for the first time since beating Missouri S&T 20-16 Sept. 2.

UWF was 5-6 in its inaugural season. The NCAA Division II program is aiming to start 2-0 for the second straight year when it takes on the winless Hawks (0-2).

The two teams met a year ago in North Carolina and Chowan won 35-28.
