Under the lights on a Thursday night, the University of West Florida football team held its first scrimmage of the preseason.
This first dress rehearsal for the season had almost the feel of a regular season game. Energized, intense and focused on execution, the Argonauts put their best foot forward on a muggy evening at Pen Air Field in Pensacola.
“I felt like we did well and made a huge jump from where we were last year at this time,” redshirt sophomore quarterback Mike Beaudry said. “The offense was efficient, we limited mistakes and I thought everyone looked good.”
And about that chance to play in a scrimmage in front of a crowd with the lights on?
“It was awesome. It felt almost like what it will be like on game day because we are playing a lot of night games,” Beaudry said.
Former Navarre standout Quentin Randolph had the chance to see the field Thursday and is hoping to play a bigger role at wide receiver for the Argos after seeing more playing time last season as a sophomore.
