Another week, another win for Navarre

Chris Williams didn’t win his weight class at Wednesday’s Navarre Invitational.

He finished second in the 199-pound division with a combined lift of 630 pounds.

Still, he’s happy with where he is as the season winds down, and yet he knows there is still so much more work to do.

“It’s going pretty good, but there is definitely room for improvement,” Williams said. “It’s just a blessing to be here.”

Williams played a role in helping the Raiders come out on top in another meet. Navarre won its own invite in convincing fashion, rolling up 84 points, well ahead of runner-up Pace, which had 42 points.

The Raiders are on a mission as a team and have yet to lose a meet this season. The reigning 2A state runner-up is pleased with its latest effort, one in which Navarre had the winner in six of the 10 weight classes.

“Our guys are working hard and really competing hard,” Navarre head coach Jay Walls said. “They seem to be hungry, too. The biggest things for us are staying healthy and staying focused. We’re making progress and continue to work to increase our totals every week.”
