It’s a common practice in business and government. When a task seems too costly or the economy is strained, hire an outside firm to take some of the costs off but still accomplish the same amount of work.
It’s called outsourcing, and Santa Rosa County government is no stranger to it. Grass cutting, trash collection, some engineering services, survey reviews, project management—there are plenty of government functions being performed by private companies.
