Student activities will be business as usual Friday based on current forecasts, according to Santa Rosa County School District Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick.
In an email Tuesday afternoon, Wyrosdick wrote that due to Hurricane Delta’s track to the west near Louisiana, the district did not plan to close school. The Category 4 storm is forecast to make landfall Saturday morning.
“Currently, we have been advised our schools will not need to open as shelters,” Wyrosdick wrote. “At present, we will make no changes to current academic or extra-curricular schedules. At present, we will continue to plan for school on Friday.”
Wyrosdick added that they continue to monitor the situation and may change plans depending on further updates.
He also instructed that activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday can be moved to an earlier time frame, but that is not required at this time.
Any changes would come following the Oct. 7 11 a.m. briefing.
