School district not yet sold on Tiger Point site

Contrary to public comments by Gulf Breeze Mayor Matt Dannheisser last week, the Santa Rosa School District isn’t in negotiations with the City of Gulf Breeze to buy a portion of its Tiger Point Golf Club.

Assistant School Superintendent Joey Harrell told this newspaper last week that the district, while interested in a 47-acre parcel on the golf club footprint, is still researching the property’s potential as a school site.

“We’re not in negotiations. No offer has been made,” said Harrell.

That didn’t stop Dannheisser from saying in an interview on Pensacola radio station 1670 AM “Cat Country” that “we have right now active negotiations with the Santa Rosa School Board to sell a piece of that property for somewhere in the $2 (million) to $3 million range…”
