Rogers pushes past adversity to find success

Dusty Rogers never let those tough moments at Gulf Coast State get the best of him.

The lack of playing time wasn’t easy to deal with. But he always knew there were better opportunities ahead if he just stayed the course.

“I had to work hard every day to maintain my ability. After that rough year, I moved on to summer ball, and that’s what got me to where I am now.”

Where the former Navarre standout is now is at Waldorf University in Iowa. He’s playing NAIA baseball for the Warriors and excelling at the next level.

He grabbed the attention of coaches in the summer of 2018 playing in a wooden-bat league in New York, propelling himself into a position to find a new school to play at.

“I thought it was my turn to bounce back and show I still have it,” Rogers said. “All those coaches are looking for players, and I went in thinking I’m the best and I’m going to do my best. It was ‘I’m going to show out and get seen’ kind of thing.”

Rogers played in all 52 games for Waldorf last season – one of only three players on the team to do it.
