Navarre’s girls soccer team had a tough end to its week, losing three games in the Montverde tournament. The Raiders opened the week by playing rival Gulf Breeze to a 1-1 tie.
Navarre 1, Gulf Breeze 1
All the scoring was done in the first five minutes of play as the Raiders and arch rival, Gulf Breeze, played to a 1-1 tie last Tuesday in a road match.
The fast-paced contest had both teams racing up and down the rain-soaked field in a very physical game. Most of the girls have been playing travel ball with and against each other for years. Both teams held nothing back in a physical match.
The Dolphins drew first blood in the second minute when the Raiders were unable to clear a corner kick. The corner landed in front of the goal and several players seemed to have a chance to clear the ball, but it bounced off a few and landed in the goal.
The Raiders came back quickly. In the fifth minute, Hailey Bastian brought the ball down the middle and made a sharp pass to Jennifer Seward breaking toward the Dolphin goal.
The keeper came out, but it was too late, as Seward’s shot landed in the left corner of the net.
In the next five minutes, the Dolphins had two more scores that were called back because they were off-sides on the play.
