Sarah Shoffner ran toward the edge of the sideline of the gymnasium with no regard to the fact that the volleyball is in the territory of ‘not likely to be saved.’
But that didn’t stop her from trying, and ultimately, she kept the ball in play. The Raiders went on to win the volley and the point because of Shoffner’s hustle.
Those types of plays were typical of Shoffner throughout the night on Sept. 24 in a tightly contested road match against Pace that the Raiders found a way to survive in five sets, winning 25-18, 25-14, 24-26, 23-25 and 17-15.
