No fewer than three Raiders established new personal bests Saturday at the Patriot Duel and the Pool in the University of West Florida Aquatic Center.
Luke Losquadro, Emma Simon and Alyssa Grant were pleased with their improvement against the clock. Losquadro shaved some time off his 50-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 32.87. Simon outswam her 200 freestyle time by several seconds. But Grant wrecked her previous best in the 200 individual medley – 50 yards each in the four swim strokes.
This was Grant’s first individual medley race of the season; however, her time jump can be attributed to all the work she’s put in.
“Coach wanted us to improve and push us … and I cut off nine seconds,” the junior swimmer said. “I don’t really have a strongest stroke. I do like the IM, and I like all the strokes.”
For the day, her program was front-loaded. She swam the freestyle leg of the opening event – 200 medley relay with B-race teammates Kaitlyn Wollenzien, Merete Conley and Sarah Johnson.
