Navarre’s swim team heads into a new season Wednesday. It will host Fort Walton Beach and Milton at the Pullum YMCA in Navarre.
The Raiders will get things going at 4:30 p.m. and it’s the first meet of what will be a shortened season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senior night is scheduled for Sept. 22 when the Raiders take on Gulf Breeze at 4:30 p.m. in Navarre.
Navarre heads to Destin Sept. 26 for a meet and wraps up the month Sept. 29 against Pace at home.
The Panama City Beach Invitational is scheduled for Oct. 3 at Frank Brown Park while the Santa Rosa County Championship meet is slated for Oct. 7 at Hunter Pool in Pensacola.
Navarre welcomes back 14 returnees, including eight seniors. The remaining members of the team are freshmen. The Raiders are planning to opt-in to the state series.
“If it wasn’t for the seniors, I wouldn’t push to compete in the state series,” Navarre head coach Mary Moorer said. “But I want them to have the opportunity to do it.”
No spectators will be allowed inside the fence for meets but the team is working on live streaming its meets on Facebook.
