Raiders ready to open district play against Patriots

Navarre’s football team closes out September at home with its District 2-6A opener against Pace. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

The Raiders are 4-0 and ranked sixth in the state and are looking to take the first step forward in their quest to win a district crown for the first time since 2015. Navarre is also looking to complete a perfect run through September for the fourth consecutive year.

Last week, Navarre knocked off Pine Forest 27-14 to stretch its road win streak to 14 games. The Raiders have won 25 of their last 26 games in the regular season.

Navarre now turns its attention to the Patriots, who enter the game 1-3. Pace is coming off a 49-21 loss to Choctaw.

Raiders head coach Jay Walls said his team is looking forward to the start of district play.

“It’s our first district game and the race is wide open,” Walls said. “Everyone is going to be pumped up for the game.”
