Lights flickering, no air conditioning because of power issues, and to top it off, Navarre’s volleyball team found itself a two-set hole against Fort Walton Beach in its regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.
It’s a scene that captures 2020 in the moment, but the Raiders didn’t let those issues out of their control bother them, rallying for three consecutive victories to take the match in five over the Vikings.
Navarre won 15-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 15-9 to punctuate its first winning season since 2012.
“It comes down to pure grit. The girls didn’t want to lay down,” Navarre head coach Ryan Davenport said.
