Navarre’s swim team dove into a new season Thursday, hosting a pentathlon at the Pullum YMCA. Santa Rosa County schools Gulf Breeze, Pace and Milton also competed in the meet, the first of the year for area high school teams.
Dorsey Harrison led the way among the boys swimmers, finishing in the top 10 in all five of the events he competed in. He won the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 29.75 and was second in the 50 breaststroke (32.07). He took fifth in both the 100 freestyle (56.09) and 50 butterfly (28.68) and was 10th in the 50 freestyle (26.13).
Dylan Porter swam a 58.22 in the 100 free to place eighth overall and Connor Phillips came through with a ninth-place finish in the 50 backstroke (32.47).
Zach Sutton was second in the 100 free (53.87) and third in the 50 free (24.63). He placed in the top 10 in the 50 breaststroke as well, finishing seventh in a time of 34.03.
Hunter Richardson was 10th in the 50 breaststroke (34.59)
For the girls, Olivia Sczesny placed in the top 10 in her five events, finishing second in the 100 free (1:01.50) and taking third in the 50 breaststroke (39.16) and 50 free (27.71). She was eighth in the 50 backstroke (36.72).
Lauren Robbins had a successful day in the pool with three top-10 finishes, taking seventh in the 50 fly (33.91) and placing eighth in both the 50 free (30.32) and 50 fly (1:07.13).
