Navarre’s girls soccer team recorded another successful week, rolling over Pensacola 6-2 last Thursday and topping Milton 4-3 the next day on senior night.
The Raiders (12-5-2) are set up for a first-round bye in the District 1-6A tournament next week.
“All our hard work is starting to pay off,” junior midfielder Maia Vacks said. “We just want to win districts and get to the final four. We’re looking to keep improving.”
This is the final week of the regular season. And the Raiders are battling to continue their modest, two-game winning streak up to and through the playoffs.
Finishing scoring chances is something the Raiders have struggled with. Battling, on the other hand, is something these athletes have down pat.
Last Friday night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium, Navarre lost focus a couple of times and the Panthers capitalized.
“This was a night that we did not play well. It was ugly, in terms of our touches on the ball. It was ugly in terms of our mental focus on some things. But we’re able to persevere and go,” Navarre head coach Rob Simon said.
