Raiders have strong opening week in flag football

It was a busy opening week for Navarre’s flag football team, with the Raiders going 2-1.

Last Monday they ventured to Tallahassee and lost 25-6 to Chiles in their opener before bouncing back with a 25-0 win over Tate Tuesday. The Raiders capped the week with an 18-12 win over Florida State High.

The loss to Chiles might not have been a bad thing, according to head coach Sean Tomey.

“We fell behind early in the game and panicked a little bit. Before we could react, we were already down 19-0,” Tomey said. “But once our kids adjusted and started to play like they’re capable. We played a really good team with a talent level our kids haven’t seen yet, and it took us a while to get adjusted.”
