Raiders get strong showing from Ottley and Rivers

A freshman posted the low score for Navarre’s golf team Thursday at Hidden Creek.

Andrew Ottley posted a 48 on the par-36 front nine, charging to the clubhouse on fire.

“I finished the last three holes with just four putts,” Ottley said. “On (hole) eight, I hit a three wood 230 yards over water, chipped up, and sank a putt from 30 feet for par.”

The second low round went to freshman Will Rivers, with a 51.

“I’m somewhat happy with it. I should’ve shot lower, but it was a good round,” Rivers said.

Coach Clark Brown stood in the shade of the ninth hole and considered Rivers’ good score.

“He’s been hitting the ball well on the range,” he said. “It (the round) is not surprising.”

Unfortunately, Navarre was competing against Gulf Breeze. And the Dolphins’ combined score of its top four players bested the Raiders by 21 strokes. In singles matches, Navarre walked off the course with no wins, three losses and two ties. Both Ottley and Rivers tied their Gulf Breeze playing partner.
