Raiders feel good about progress going forward

Last Tuesday afternoon before the start of a short practice during Thanksgiving week, Navarre’s boys soccer team took time to watch film from the lone blemish on its schedule.

A 2-1 loss to the Vikings is the only thing keeping the Raiders from perfection through their first six games.

“We wanted to take them step by step through the video to show them what they did wrong and show them some different things on positioning,” Navarre head coach Abdalla Elbaioumy said. “It’s a good chance to work on fixing mistakes.”

The Raiders (5-1) are always striving to improve and have shown just how promising of a team it can be, scoring two or more goals five times. But it’s the defense has been the biggest surprise.

A question mark going into the season, the defense has proved itself, allowing more than a goal only once.

“I’m really happy with what we have as a team, especially on defense,” Elbaioumy said.
