Hailey Neely nailed a jumper with 3:26 to play in Navarre’s showdown with Fort Walton Beach Dec. 17, cutting the Raider deficit to one and renewing hope that perhaps a victory was in the cards against one of the better teams in the area.
But a few missed shots mixed in with a handful of turnovers down the stretch doomed the Raiders in what would turn out to be a 58-50 loss to the Vikings.
It was another night of the Raiders giving a determined effort only to see that offset by the issue of being their own worst enemy.
“We lost it in the end,” Navarre head coach Abby Fogg said. “We had stupid mistakes and didn’t finish. This is a team that beat us by 30 in the summer, and we held our own against them. We were right there. We just have to finish.”
There were a couple of shots inside that went off the rim and a steal by the Raiders that ended up being taken back by the Vikings.
