Raiders battle Panthers in first road game

Navarre heads to Milton tonight for its first road game of the season. The Raiders and Panthers kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Haywood Hanna Panther Stadium.

Navarre (2-0) is coming off its first shutout win of the season, blanking Pace 34-0. Milton (1-0) played its opener last week and won 36-6 over Pensacola.

The Raiders have won 20 of their last 22 road games and haven’t lost in the month of September since 2013, a stretch of 22 consecutive games.

The Raiders have rolled up 780 yards of offense, including 420 on the ground, and have allowed just 303 yards, including holding its first two opponents to under 100 yards passing. Navarre has given up just seven points in the last six quarters of play.

This game against the Panthers is the first of three consecutive on the road.

Navarre won 49-12 over Milton last season and has shut the Panthers out twice in the last four seasons, winning 35-0 in 2015 and 44-0 in 2016. The 12 points is the most Navarre has given up to Milton since 2015.


Marlon Courtney has thrown for 360 yards and four touchdowns and has 2,788 career yards, ranking fourth all-time. He ranks fourth in school history in career touchdown passes (23) as well.

Jaydin Antonio has rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. He also has a touchdown catch.

Tyler England has 823 career receiving yards and seven career touchdown catches, including one this season.

Six different players have scored touchdowns for the Raiders this season, including varsity newcomers Isaiah Miller and Trent Hall.

Grady Kelly leads the team in tackles (17) and also has three sacks.

Opponents are just 9-of-26 on third down against Navarre and 3-for-9 on fourth down.

The Raiders held Pace to under 100 yards passing and rushing yards last week.

Jay Walls will coach his 90th game at Navarre tonight. He is 72-17 and in his eighth season at the helm of the program.
