Navarre’s volleyball team returned to the court at Escambia last Tuesday. The Gators gave the Raiders a good fight, but Navarre prevailed in the end, winning its second match of the year.
Head coach Ryan Davenport substituted freely and he had plenty of fresh legs when they were needed in game three and four.
In the first game, the score was tied 2-2 when Mary Beloat hit through an Escambia block to give the Raiders a one-point lead.
Lili Trujillo’s hard service gave the Raiders a 10-6 lead. Ciara Cathey and Megan Haytack each converted perfect passes by Samantha MacFarland into points, giving the Raiders a 13-7 lead.
MacFarland served the next seven points and the Raiders led 20–9. Aubrey Walls scored twice, through the Escambia defense. A couple of Gator service errors gave the Raiders a 25-11 win.
