Navarre has been given a bye into the opening round of the Region 1-7A football playoffs and will host an opening-round game Nov. 20.
The Raiders will play the winner of the Creekside-Buccholz matchup that night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. Creekside is 2-2 on the year. Buccholz is 2-1.
“It looks good having a bye in the first round,” Navarre head coach Jay Walls said. “But other than finding out, I haven’t really thought much about it since we still have games to play.”
Navarre narrowly missed on the postseason a year ago, ending a run of seven consecutive appearances in the playoffs.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, every team in the state is being given an opportunity to play in the postseason this year.
The Raiders are 2-0 on the season. They have won their last four games dating back to last season. They host Choctaw (0-3) Thursday night in their home opener. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
