Applications to the Zoning Board may have revealed what will neighbor an Aldi grocery store currently under construction in Navarre.
The application was posted to the county’s website Jan. 2 ahead of the Jan. 9 meeting.
According to site plans provided in the project application the grocery store project near the corner of Ortega Street and U.S. Highway 98 will be neighbored by a Whataburger, Panera Bread and a Firestone Tire.
The Firestone has prompted the project developers Craig Kruse and Mark Siner of Choctaw Engineering, Inc. The project will need a conditional use approval for a body shop to be allowed on the property in order to build the Firestone.
Work on the Aldi grocery store is already underway, and more of these stores are expected to be built in the county.
Kruse and Siner are also part of two other major developments in the area, including The Boulevard, an entertainment, shopping and dining complex planned for the intersection of 98 and Highway 87. Little visible progress has been made on this project.
The pair will also be seeking approval from the Zoning Board Jan. 9 on the Splash RV Resort project in Milton near the Interstate 10 exit onto 87.
This massive waterpark and RV resort will require a conditional use approval for one of the parcels included in the project. Advertising for Splash has it set to open this year.
The Zoning Board meeting will be Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. in the board room at 6495 Caroline Street in Milton.
