Plans to build a new high school on Chumuckla Highway got a thumbs up from the Zoning Board Aug. 13, though some neighbors thumbed down the idea.
Santa Rosa County School District needs a conditional use approval to build schools in residential areas.
Different from a rezoning, which changes the intended use of a property, conditional uses are allowable uses that must first get approval from the County Commissioners. The Zoning Board hears the case first and makes a recommendation.
