New satellite will be launched in November and aid in management of fisheries

In early November, the first of four advanced polar-orbiting satellites known as the Joint Polar Satellite System will be launched from California, the result of a collaboration between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA.

Its purpose will be to collect data that will prove beneficial to the management of fisheries and other protected species.
