In September 2018, Tammie and John Paton were living on 5 acres of land in rural Bay County.
Tammie had just been diagnosed with a rapidly growing form of breast cancer. She was 45, but her mother died of breast cancer. Every family member she can think of also has had cancer.
That’s how her cancer was discovered. Her doctor, after hearing her history, had suggested she have an ultrasound and mammogram just to be sure. The tests revealed she had a tumor pressed against her rib cage.
“I would never have felt it until it was too late,” she said.
