Navarre will open football season with Gulf Breeze

For the second consecutive year the Beach Bowl is the first game of the season for Navarre’s football team.

The Raiders kick off the 2020 campaign against the Dolphins Aug. 21 in Gulf Breeze, marking the 13th time the Santa Rosa County rivals have met with a trophy on the line. Navarre has won four of the last five meetings, including a 28-21 victory last season.

Two more county rivals follow on the schedule as Navarre will play at Pace Aug. 28 before playing its home opener against Milton on Sept. 4 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

The Raiders, gearing up for their second season as a 7A school, begin District 1-7A play Sept. 11 at home against Lincoln.

Navarre makes just one trip to Tallahassee this season as it will battle Chiles on the road Oct. 9. The Raiders their homecoming game Oct. 16 against Leon and senior night is Oct. 30 against Enterprise (Alabama).

Navarre was 6-4 a year ago, winning its final two games, but missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

The Raiders begin spring football practice May 4 and will take on Milton on the road in their spring game May 22.

Navarre’s preseason game is scheduled for Aug. 14 against West Florida Tech at home.
