Navarre well-represented in NCAA football playoffs

It’s NCAA playoff time for several former Navarre football players.

Quentin Randolph is on a University of West Florida football team off to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the second time in its four-year history.

UWF (8-2) faces Wingate (10-1)  at Noon EST Saturday in North Carolina.

Randall leads the Argonauts in receiving with 30 catches for 611 yards and five touchdowns.

Brady Hammel will get his first experience in the playoffs after helping Miles win its second consecutive Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship this past weekend.

The Golden Bears (9-2) have won their last three games. They are in the playoffs for the first time since 2012. They battle unbeaten Lenoir-Rhyne (11-0) at Noon EST Saturday in the opening round in North Carolina.

Hammel is having a stellar senior season. He is 12-for-12 on extra points and has connected on three field goals, including one from 44 yards away.

Huntingdon has three former Navarre players on its roster. Offensive lineman Darrell Hixon, defensive lineman Marc Struck and long snapper Garrett Schluter all play for the Hawks.

Huntingdon (7-3) has won four of the last five USA South Athletic Conference titles. It takes on Berry (9-1)  at 11 a.m. CST Saturday in Georgia.

Hixon starts up front for an offense that is averaging 420.5 yards per game. Struck has 16 tackles. Schluter has seen playing time as well this season for the Hawks.
